How Okishima Works
Towing Capability
The vessel supports towing of large vessels, barges, offshore structures, and other floating structures, ensuring safe and reliable movement from ports to coastal waters. It also has experience towing large floating cranes and is equipped with the propulsive power and towing equipment needed to handle tows of various sizes and configurations.
Berthing, Unberthing, and Mooring Support
The vessel assists with pushing and pulling during the arrival and departure of large vessels and supports mooring, thus ensuring safety of port operations. Leveraging its high maneuverability, it can provide precise assistance even in narrow waters and congested ports.
Fire Fighting System
The vessel is equipped with a firefighting system capable of delivering water externally, allowing it to serve as a firefighting support vessel. It can assist with initial response and firefighting support in the event of fires in port or offshore, helping protect nearby vessels and port facilities.
Key Features
Okishima’s key strength as a tugboat is its maneuverability. Even in confined port areas and coastal waters, the vessel is easy to handle and can respond quickly in the field as a support vessel for large work vessels.
Its strength lies in its dependable operation rather than showiness. Consistent daily inspection and maintenance keep Okishima readily available for immediate deployment at any time to ensure project continuity behind the scenes.
WORKS
-
Towing of Floating Cranes
The vessel tows non-self-propelled floating cranes.
The tugboat is connected to the floating crane by a towline, and the crane is towed to its destination.
Crew members maintain an appropriate speed and course to prevent excessive load on the towline and ensure safe towing.CLOSE
